More than 30 killed as two trains collide in Egypt
Cairo (CNN)At least 32 people have been killed and 165 injured after two trains collided in Egypt on Friday, according to government statements.  Seventy-two ambulances were sent to the scene and reinforcement medical teams were sent to the incident in the Tahta district of the Upper Egypt governorate of Sohag from the capital Cairo, the Health Ministry said. Health Minister Hala Zayed said in a news conference that two planes were dispatched from Cairo with 52 medical teams from various specialties on board to treat the injured. Images from the scene showed crowds of people gathered around the twisted wreckage of the trains. The collision happened after an unidentified person pulled an emergency brake, Egypt's railway authority said in a statement.  Source

TAIWAN

Train crash kills 48 in Taiwan's deadliest rail tragedy for decades
HUALIEN, Taiwan (Reuters) - A Taiwan express train with almost 500 aboard derailed in a tunnel on Friday, killing at least 48 passengers and injuring 66 in the island’s worst rail disaster in almost four decades.     Images from the scene showed carriages in the tunnel ripped apart by the impact, with others crumpled, hindering rescuers in their efforts to reach passengers, although by mid-afternoon no one was still trapped.  “People just fell all over each other, on top of one another,” a woman who survived the crash told domestic television. “It was terrifying. There were whole families there.”  The crash, north of the eastern city of Hualien, killed the driver of the train carrying many tourists and people heading home at the start of a long weekend traditional holiday to tend to family graves.  Source

Two die in Texas after Tesla 'on auto-pilot with no one in driving seat' crashes into tree and starts massive four-hour fire that took 32,000 GALLONS of water to extinguish
Two men died after a Tesla 'on autopilot with no one driving' crashed into a tree in Houston before starting a huge fire that took 32,000 gallons of water to extinguish.   The fully-electric 2019 Tesla Model S slammed into the tree in Carlton Woods at around 11.25pm on Saturday night before bursting into flames with the passengers still inside.   Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said an investigation had found that 'no one was driving' when the accident happened, with one man sitting in the passenger seat at the front and the second sitting in the back. Officials told KPRC 2 that the $80,000 vehicle was moving at high speed when it failed to negotiate a cul-de-sac turn, ran off the road and crashed.   Fire fighters used 32,000 gallons of water over four hours to try to put out the flames because the car's batteries kept reigniting.   At one point, deputies had to call Tesla to ask them how to put out a fire in the battery.  Dailymail.com has contacted Tesla for comment, as officials prepare to carry out autopsies on both men. 'It is now a recovery': Christian diet guru Gwen Shamblin Lara, her husband and five other chief members of the Remnant Fellowship Church are 'presumed dead' after their private jet crashes into lake

A small plane carrying Christian diet guru Gwen Shamblin Lara, her husband and five other members of the Remnant Fellowship Church crashed into a lake in Tennessee on Saturday, and all passengers are now presumed dead. The Cessna C501 left from Smyrna Rutherford County Airport before it slammed into the water in Percy Priest Lake in Smyrna, Tennessee at 10:53am shortly after take-off, officials said in a news release. The plane was bound for Palm Beach International Airport and it was not immediately clear who was piloting it. 'Our efforts have transitioned from that of a rescue effort to that of a recovery effort. Those efforts will be continuing through the night,’ Captain Joshua Sanders with Rutherford County Fire Rescue Department said during a press conference on Saturday night. Rutherford County officials had indicated earlier in the day that they had been able to confirm at least one person had died in the accident, though did not reveal who that passenger was. The plane is registered to Lara and her husband Joe Lara through their company JL&GL Productions LP, WTVF reported. Elizabeth Hannah, Lara's daughter, sent out an internal text to families of the church telling them the plane 'had to go down for a controlled, quick landing,' WTVF reported. Hannah's text identified them as her own husband, Brandon Hannah, along with the Laras - and church leaders David and Jennifer Martin and Jonathan and Jessica Walters. Rutherford County officials confirmed those identities in the press release late on Saturday. Source

Mysterious Radio Burst From Space Is Unusually Close—And Especially Baffling...Because Its Coming From The Demons Of The Darksome Atmosphere!

For the time has come when the most astonishing wonders will take place on the earth and in the air. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Voices will be heard in the air. Men will beat their heads against walls Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

“The demons of the air together with the Antichrist will perform great wonders on earth and in the atmosphere, and men will become more and more perverted. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against Principalities and Powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. Ephesians 6:12

Mysterious radio burst from space is unusually close—and especially baffling

Bight, fleeting blasts of radio waves coming from the vicinity of a nearby galaxy are deepening one of astronomy’s biggest mysteries. The repeating bursts of energy seem to be coming from an ancient group of stars called a globular cluster, which is among the last places astronomers expected to find them. Often originating billions of light-years away, the extremely bright, extremely brief bursts of radio waves known as fast radio bursts, or FRBs, have defied explanation since they were first spotted in 2007. Based on observations to date, scientists surmised that the bursts are powered by young, short-lived cosmic objects called magnetars. But a fast radio burst discovered last year has now been traced to a globular cluster about 11.7 million light-years away, near the neighboring spiral galaxy M81, according to a paper describing the discovery posted on the scientific preprint server arXiv. Finding this burst among a cluster of aging stars is kind of like finding a smartphone embedded in Stonehenge—the observation doesn’t make sense. “This is definitely not a place fast radio bursts are expected to live,” Bryan Gaensler, an astronomer at the University of Toronto and a co-author of the new paper, posted on Twitter. “Just what is going on?” Scientists are struggling to explain the cosmic anachronism. They’re also moving toward the conclusion that maybe, as with many other celestial phenomena, there are multiple ways to cook up a fast radio burst. "FRBs might be—might be—just this generic phenomenon associated with a whole range of possible sources,” says Cornell University astronomer Shami Chatterjee, who studies the bursts but is not part of the discovery team.

 “What is happening here?”

Scientists first spotted the burst, dubbed FRB 20200120E, in January 2020 using the Canada Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) telescope, which has proven to be a relentless FRB-finding machine. When CHIME came online in 2017, scientists knew of fewer than 30 fast radio bursts; now the telescope has boosted that total to well over a thousand. Like at least two dozen known bursts, FRB 20200120E is a repeater—a space engine that produces multiple detectable blasts of radio waves, rather than exploding once and vanishing. Its bursts are not as bright as those coming from billions of light-years away, in the distant cosmos, but over the last year, they’ve allowed scientists to identify the FRB’s location in the sky. From there, the team could attempt to identify a source. Measurements of the bursts suggested that FRB 20200120E was quite nearby, so astronomers knew they were hunting for something local, perhaps even within the Milky Way’s gassy, sparsely populated halo. Scientists then used a network of radio telescopes known as the European Very Long Baseline Interferometry Network to pinpoint the burst’s precise location. “We conclusively prove that FRB 20200120E is associated with a globular cluster in the M81 galactic system, thereby confirming that it is 40 times closer than any other known extragalactic FRB,” the authors write in the new paper. “The interpretation of that is where things get very, very interesting,” Chatterjee says. “It is very hard to fit into existing models.” Source

Here read from St. Thomas Aquinas on where Demons reside...

Article 4. Whether our atmosphere is the demons' place of punishment?

Objection 1. It would seem that this atmosphere is not the demons' place of punishment. For a demon is a spiritual nature. But a spiritual nature is not affected by place. Therefore there is no place of punishment for demons.

Objection 2. Further, man's sin is not graver than the demons'. But man's place of punishment is hell. Much more, therefore, is it the demons' place of punishment; and consequently not the darksome atmosphere.

Objection 3. Further, the demons are punished with the pain of fire. But there is no fire in the darksome atmosphere. Therefore the darksome atmosphere is not the place of punishment for the demons.

On the contrary, Augustine says (Gen. ad lit. iii, 10), that "the darksome atmosphere is as a prison to the demons until the judgment day."

I answer that, The angels in their own nature stand midway between God and men. Now the order of Divine providence so disposes, that it procures the welfare of the inferior orders through the superior. But man's welfare is disposed by Divine providence in two ways: first of all, directly, when a man is brought unto good and withheld from evil; and this is fittingly done through the good angels. In another way, indirectly, as when anyone assailed is exercised by fighting against opposition. It was fitting for this procuring of man's welfare to be brought about through the wicked spirits, lest they should cease to be of service in the natural order. Consequently a twofold place of punishment is due to the demons: one, by reason of their sin, and this is hell; and another, in order that they may tempt men, and thus the darksome atmosphere is their due place of punishment.

Now the procuring of men's salvation is prolonged even to the judgment day: consequently, the ministry of the angels and wrestling with demons endure until then. Hence until then the good angels are sent to us here; and the demons are in this dark atmosphere for our trial: although some of them are even now in hell, to torment those whom they have led astray; just as some of the good angels are with the holy souls in heaven. But after the judgment day all the wicked, both men and angels, will be in hell, and the good in heaven.

Reply to Objection 1. A place is not penal to angel or soul as if affecting the nature by changing it, but as affecting the will by saddening it: because the angel or the soul apprehends that it is in a place not agreeable to its will.

Reply to Objection 2. One soul is not set over another in the order of nature, as the demons are over men in the order of nature; consequently there is no parallel.

Reply to Objection 3. Some have maintained that the pain of sense for demons and souls is postponed until the judgment day: and that the beatitude of the saints is likewise postponed until the judgment day. But this is erroneous, and contrary to the teaching of the Apostle (2 Corinthians 5:1): "If our earthly house of this habitation be dissolved, we have a house in heaven." Others, again, while not admitting the same of souls, admit it as to demons. But it is better to say that the same judgment is passed upon wicked souls and wicked angels, even as on good souls and good angels.

Consequently, it must be said that, although a heavenly place belongs to the glory of the angels, yet their glory is not lessened by their coming to us, for they consider that place to be their own; in the same way as we say that the bishop's honor is not lessened while he is not actually sitting on his throne. In like manner it must be said, that although the demons are not actually bound within the fire of hell while they are in this dark atmosphere, nevertheless their punishment is none the less; because they know that such confinement is their due. Hence it is said in a gloss upon James 3:6: "They carry fire of hell with them wherever they go." Nor is this contrary to what is said (Luke 8:31), "They besought the Lord not to cast them into the abyss"; for they asked for this, deeming it to be a punishment for them to be cast out of a place where they could injure men. Hence it is stated, "They [Vulg. 'He'] besought Him that He would not expel them [Vulg. 'him'] out of the country" (Mark 5:10).

Competitor Fears Musk's SpaceX Could 'Monopolise' Space

Competitor fears Musk's SpaceX could 'monopolise' space

The launching of thousands of satellites into low Earth orbit by tech billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX threatens the "de-facto monopolisation" of space, the head of competitor Arianespace Stephane Israel has warned. Elon Musk's Starlink constellation project recently received authorisation from US regulator the Federal Communications Commission to provide broadband from space and place thousands of satellites lower than previously proposed, angering competitors including Amazon. SpaceX, which asked the FCC for permission which will apply to some 2,800 satellites, plans ultimately to blanket poorly connected and isolated areas of the globe with internet connectivity. But rivals claim the lower altitude could increase risk of space collisions and heightened radio interference. "We want space to remain accessible for human activities... but we refuse a Wild West space. It really is our responsibility to ensure that low orbit (less than 1,000 kilometres or 625 miles) above the Earth is sustainable long-term," Israel told a UN-sponsored conference in Geneva on sustainable space development goals. Israel noted that of more than 9,000 satellites sent into orbit since 1957, "SpaceX has already deployed 1,677 satellites for Starlink, which means that today, of all satellites in operation, 35 percent belong to one man -- Elon Musk. "And if you include satellites of more than 50 kilogrammes, that's more than 50 percent." He added that recent years had seen several collisions, at least two of them involving Starlink satellites, and warned that "very quickly, we could find ourselves in a catastrophic scenario that would render this orbit impractical." Israel said there was also "a risk of de-facto monopolisation" for Starlink as one of the first firms to set up such a satellite network. Source

WEEKEND: AIR TRAVEL BOOM

Memorial Day air travel set to boom as a rapidly expanding airline industry rises to meet demand

American air travel is set to make a comeback with 60% more people expected to travel this Memorial Day weekend, compared to last year. For some of the more than 37 million Americans likely to travel, an expanding airline industry now means a selection of new, cost-effective options. "$19 flight — doesn't really get any cheaper than that," says Memorial Day traveler Dylan Herrera. That's how Avelo Airlines CEO Andrew Levy is trying to boost demand for his new low-cost airline. "We're trying to go out there and give customers choice," Levy told CBS News' transportation correspondent Errol Barnett. "We have wonderful people, great low fares. And, yeah, we're just excited to be out in the marketplace." Avelo's hub is based in Burbank, California, and currently services 11 small airports in the West and Midwest. "There may be other ways to get to these airports in the Western U.S., maybe through LAX, maybe through a connection. But we're trying to offer something that's different to the customer, to the traveling public," Levy said. The company is already expanding, with a second hub opening in New Haven, Connecticut. The airline industry lost more than $370 billion last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Boeing's CEO declared at the time that at last one airline would be pushed out of business. Instead, two new ones sprung up — Avelo and Breeze Airways — with the goal of tackling tackle smaller airports across the country. Source

Florida Firefighting Helicopter Crashes; No Survivors Found

Florida firefighting helicopter crashes; no survivors found

LEESBURG, Fla. (AP) — A firefighting helicopter carrying four people on a training exercise crashed near an airport in central Florida, killing all aboard. The helicopter crashed into a marsh near Leesburg International Airport around 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a news release. One body was recovered Tuesday night, and police officials on Wednesday confirmed that they also had found the bodies of the three others. The bodies were taken to a medical examiner’s office where they will be positively identified.A search and rescue effort began immediately after the crash, but the crash site couldn’t be cleared because of hazards in the area, the Leesburg Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy within our wildland firefighting family,” said Florida Forest Service director Erin Albury. “These firefighters put themselves on the line to serve and protect the lives of others.” The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board issued separate news releases saying they will investigate. The aircraft belonged to Brainerd Helicopters Inc./Firehawk Helicopters, located at Leesburg International Airport, the police department release said. The company’s aircraft support efforts to fight wildfires and participate in other commercial activities, according to its website. An unidentified woman who answered the phone at the company on Wednesday said the company had no immediate comment. Source

Objection 1. It would seem that this atmosphere is not the demons' place of punishment. For a demon is a spiritual nature. But a spiritual nature is not affected by place. Therefore there is no place of punishment for demons.

FAA chief says alarming increase in unruly passengers should concern everyone

From the friendly skies to the unruly ones -- the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is continuing its crackdown on disruptive passengers as the agency continues to see more incidents than years prior. On Monday, the FAA proposed its largest fine to a passenger this year, a whopping $52,500, for a man who punched a flight attendant in the face and tried to open the cockpit door. The agency has proposed almost $350,000 in total fines to unruly passengers since January."We have seen an alarming increase in the rate over the last few months, and it's something that we need to get under control," FAA Administrator Steve Dickson told ABC News' Transportation Correspondent Gio Benitez. "This is something that we should all be concerned about." Airlines have referred more than 1,300 cases of unruly passengers reports to the FAA. The agency has identified violations in 350 of those cases. Source

‘We don’t know exactly what they are’: Obama says UFO sightings appear real

Former President Barack Obama has laughed off rumors that the US government has a secret stash of aliens and their spacecraft — while conceding that there really are UFO sightings that the government can’t explain. “When it comes to aliens, there are some things I just can’t tell you on air,” the 44th commander-in-chief teased James Corden in a video chat on “The Late Late Show” aired early Tuesday. “Look, the truth is that when I came into office I asked,” Obama told the British comedian with a laugh. “I was like, ‘All right, is there the lab somewhere where we’re keeping the alien specimens and spaceships?’ “They did a little bit of research …. and the answer was ‘No,'” he deadpanned to laughter. “But what is true — and I’m actually being serious here — is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are,” he said of growing reports of unidentified flying objects.
