Philanthropist among the six people who died when his private plane crashed on a ranch in Texas
Six people aboard a small plane were killed when it crashed into a ravine while preparing to land in central Texas on Monday, authorities say. The twin-engine aircraft went down just before 9am as it was approaching an airport in Kerrville, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) northwest of San Antonio, according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman. The pilot and all five passengers on the plane all died, including the owner, Jeffrey Weiss. State law enforcement officials secured the crash site for FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators, said Sgt Orlando Moreno, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The plane went down in a rugged area that belonged to a private ranch, officials said. Source
