Girl, ten, dies from 'cardiac arrest' on Delta flight from Seattle to Los Angeles
A 10-year-old girl has died on a flight from from Los Angeles to Seattle after suffering a medical emergency shortly after take-off. The unnamed passenger was aboard a Delta Airlines plane on Thursday when it is thought that she went into cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The flight, which was only a few minutes into its nearly three-hour journey, was then forced to return to its origin station. Paramedics rushed to Gate 34 at Los Angeles International Airport at around 5.53pm but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The girl's name has not yet been released but initial reports have suggested that she was around ten years old. A spokesperson for the Fire Department released a statement that said: 'LAFD paramedics responded to a medical aid for a minor female child and furiously worked to save her life. 'Sadly, all efforts were futile and the child was beyond medical help. 'Her death was determined on scene.' The authorities added that there are no immediate indications of anything suspicious in connection with her death but the Los Angeles Police Department will still begin an investigation. A coroner will also now determine an official cause of death. Source
