Delta Employee Stephon Jamar Duncan Threatened to ‘Take Down’ Flight
An off-duty worker onboard a Delta Airways flight from California to Georgia pressured the aircraft to make an emergency touchdown in Oklahoma Metropolis after he attacked the flight crew, threatened to crash the aircraft, and tried to open the pressurized plug door. Several passengers onboard the aircraft posted movies to social media in regards to the incident.
Video from the incident was shared by an unnamed passenger aboard the flight. The passenger mentioned they initially believed that the person, later identified as 34-year-old Stephon Jamar Duncan, was trying to hijack the aircraft. Native information outlet ABC7 reported that authorities in Oklahoma Metropolis mentioned that Duncan was “an off-duty Delta worker” who threatened to “take down the aircraft.”
“The person made an announcement that we wanted to be near our oxygen masks & proceeded to attempt & open the door,” the passenger, whose Twitter deal with is @alifuckingburns, wrote. “They then referred to as all of the ‘sturdy males’ to the entrance of the aircraft to restrain him. We ended up touchdown in OKC because it was the closest airport to us.” He later clarified that the person was truly “attempting to open the door to the surface, not the cockpit.” Source
